Delays, Make-Up, More Delays and Massages...

We're in Lusaka

We got up at 03h45 this morning, arrived in Johannesburg at 07h40 - Immediately checked in for our Johannesburg/Lusaka flight which was supposed to leave at 11h00. We were informed the aircraft was 'stuck' in Windhoek and we'd be leaving at 13h30 which meant getting us into Lusaka at 15h30... Too late for the bus to Mongu which left at 15h00.

So we had 5 hours to kill at Johannesburg International and a night to spend in Lusaka.

Kim said that we needed to get translucent powder to kill the glare on our subjects faces, especially since we'll be shooting with flashes.

So off we set trying to figure out where to get the powder with in Johannesburg Internationals limited shops. We tried the chemist, they looked at us like we were mad - We tried Woolworths and discovered they only had the translucent powder with glitter flakes, which isn't so translucent. So after a phone call to Joz we discovered its actually called 'anti glare' powder. So we went back to the chemist, who by now, thought we were a happy gay couple. They obviously didn't have anti glare powder, neither did Woolies.

We decided to try our luck with the duty free shops once we had checked in. The only powder that came close was Estée Lauder professional at R500 a pop.

So a call went through to Liesl in Cape Town, she sugessted we used 'buff' to take a bit of the glare and shine off, But what works really well is rizla paper (tobacco rolling paper) it absorbs the moisture off skin and does the same job as anti glare powder.

Eventually after Kim and Ben had Translucent/Anti-Glare/Buff 101, we bought rolling paper to do the job. Great.

By this stage, there was still 3 hours to kill, so we had lunch, more lunch and then decided to go for a massage.

The flight left at 13h40 and we arrived in Lusaka at 16h00. Got picked up and dropped off at the guest house, We're up at 06h00 and have an 8 hour bus trip ahead of us - Mongu tomorrow!
